If you are biting into a juicy, pineapple right now, the chances are it may well be a Thailand pineapple.
Thailand has become one of the worlds largest pineapple producers, exporting fresh, canned, dried and juices to many countries.
The largest area of pineapple production in Thailand is Prachuap Khiri Khan province in the Southern part of Thailand. This area stretches from the Hua Hin area south to Chumphon.
One day in Hua Hin I took a ride just 15 minutes out and found this family working their plantation, you can see by the picture that children learn the trade at an early age.I sat for a while chatting to the family and shared a juicy pineapple with them. These farming families are always friendly and ready for a chat. Love the t shirt.
Many of these pineapples end up on the street corners being sold by local vendors.Always fresh, always sweet and always cheap.
My lunch would normally be a piece of fruit and at 10 or 20 baht you cant go wrong.
Pineapples are high in vitamins A and C and have very good fibre content.
